Patented in Switzerland and Europe: European unitary patent for dingz

After the Swiss patent, it is now official in Europe too: on 22 July 2026 the European Patent Office granted our invention “Intelligent push-button for a building installation” under number EP 3 846 344, as a European unitary patent.
We are proud of this. The patent protects the technology behind the dingz switch: an intelligent switch that fits into the existing installation and controls lighting, blinds and more, smartly.
Two patents, one innovation
- Switzerland: patent CH 716 997, granted on 15 August 2025
- Europe: patent EP 3 846 344, granted on 22 July 2026, as a European unitary patent
The Swiss patent has been in place since 2025. Until now we have not made much noise about it. With the European patent, now is the right moment.
What this means
- Protecting the innovation: the technology behind dingz is legally protected in Switzerland and Europe.
- Protection against copies: imitators cannot simply take over our protected solution.
- Security for our partners: building owners, planners, electricians and distributors rely on a protected original from Switzerland.
- A foundation for the future: the patents are a solid basis for the further development of dingz.
Innovation is especially valuable when it is not only conceived, but also protected and put into practice. With more than 20,000 dingz switches installed, the practice has long been there. Now the innovation is protected in Switzerland and Europe as well.
A big thank you to everyone who has come this far with us.
